MINISTER FOR SOCIAL AFFAIRS SUBMITS 100 HOUSES TO MUD VICTIMS

Surabaya Kominfo-Newsroom-   Minister for Social Affairs Bachtiar Chamsyah, accompanied by East Java Governor Imam Utomo, handed over the keys of 100 houses to victims of the Lapindo hot mud at the Kahuripan Nirwana Village in Jati Sidoardjo.

He said the central and regional government and the Minarak Lapindo Jaya company are still trying to manage the problem of the hot mud victims.

This is a good thing because Lapindo has given housing to the victims, he said while presenting the keys to the residents Thursday (3/7).

He voiced the hope that victims not yet getting the cash and carry compensation would follow in the steps of the 100 families.

But compensation should conform to presidential regulation no 14 year 2007.

Evacuees in Pasar Baru Porong are expected not to resort to other regulations other than the above cited one.

Meanwhile, residents at bubble infested village will get new housing in safer areas, he added.

East Java governor Imam Utomo hoped that residents help solve the 20% compensation in order to accelerate the construction of an embankment north of site of gas bubbles, notably in Kedungbendo.

Improvement and repair of infrastructure, he said, should be given priority to revive the economy. Special attention should go to bridges and toll roads.

Lapindo will set up 1,072 housing units. Some are now under construction. And shortly 500 to 700 plots of land will likewise be ready for construction. The 36 sq m houses will be built on 144 sq m plots of land. Each unit has got three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room, according to Andi Darussalam Tabusallah, general manager of Lapindo. (www.d-infokom-jatim.go.id/jul/toeb/ton)

Programs aim is how creative industry develops and how to develop it, said Ichwan Asri, deputy of marketing, ministry for cooperatives, small and medium enterprises, in Bandung Thursday (3/7) at the opening of the Bandung cooperative fair 2008.

Bandung was selected the best East Asia city to create and develop products, notably those based on local cultures.

Creative industry has progressed tremendously during the last three years, making it the number four after agriculture, industry and information.

Bandung is expected to be center of creative people as the world attention will be focused on the West Java capital city after the declaration of the Bandung Creative City program.
